    how about preventing keratoconus? Have you studied the nutrition of keratoconus patients? What say you to rickets? Rickets of the eye? You know, there've been papers written about preventing keratoconus? What research and studies are you doing toward prevention? Where can I focus on the studies to avoid problems as a young person? Can I adjust my diet to lessen my chances. What's better for keratoconus glasses or contacts?

    Thank you kind Sir. I would HUGELY encourage all ophthalmologists and other eye care professionals to understand that while you cannot do anything o treat some eye conditions medically, what you say and do in those moments can have a life-long impact , be that posiive or negative in what you do next. Some places now have eye clinic liaison officers who work with local authorities to support people. There’s loads that can be done to offer rehabilitation and other support. The physical not seeing bit is pretty crap, but it’s not the end of life, it’s truly not. I think you have such a tool in your hands when managing sight loss. The emotional impact of sight loss is far the biggest challenge and it will come and get you (the patient) at some point - not just at the time for those who may have had great vision before but maybe during significant points in life when these things feel as though they may be holding back. Keep up the great work. Thank you for the content.

    I've had DSEK in one eye and DMEK in the other (both partial cornea transplants). I must say that recovery and results were both better than expected in my case. It's been about 4 years now; I'm 76, and my vision is great. I have a few floaters, but I hardly notice them. Still have to use eye drops daily, but that's the only inconvenience for a huge improvement in my vision!

      I also had high eye pressure, and I was told it's a side effect of the eye drops; so got some other eye drops to bring the pressure down. And it's actually high eye pressure that increases the risk for Glaucoma. And I'd totally expect your vision to still be blurry, you probably still have the threads in there.

    I’m 6 days out and I got a Toric lens in the right eye. So far I have had zero pain and very blurry vision. The Dr says it’s normal and it’ll get better. Maybe it’s too soon to tell but if you ask me right now, I totally regret having done the surgery and ESPECIALLY getting the Toric lens.

    • @earthangel2524
      @earthangel2524 2 года назад

      Cocora22. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Sorry you had reason to regret the Toric lens. How are you doing now?

    • @Cocora22
      @Cocora22 2 года назад

      @@earthangel2524 I am now exactly 4 months out from the cataract surgery. I went back to the doctor who did the lens to tell him my vision was blurry, this was a couple of months ago. He basically said, “ you have a crinkle in the area behind the lens, if it bothers you too much come back and I’ll do a YAG “ .He had no sympathy , no explanation nothing. I have to tell you that before the surgery I had a bunch of questions, but he wasn’t the one who got back in touch, that’s typical of the Wilmer Eye Institute, they have a bunch of Fellows and have them call you. So this one Fellow called me because I had doubts about the Toric lens. She says think of the money you will save on glasses. My prescription has always been ridiculously expensive so I actually thought, humm not a bad idea.Problem is that after the surgery my vision, with the so called Toric Lens that was suppose to give me really good distance vision turned out to give me WORSE vision than what I had . About a month ago I had a capsulotomy, ( YAG ) by another doctor, he said he would not have put that particular lens in, but too late now and Thursday I finally was able to place an order for new glasses. The prescription for BOTH eyes is NOT much different, so in the end the Toric lens that was suppose to give me better vision didn’t but the doctor collected $1500.00 from me and probably laughed all the way to the bank. Medicare will pay for your regular replacement lens, but not for a Toric or other type of corrective lens. I ended up with a permanent cloud like floater, that I did not have before and may stay like that forever, who knows. My prescription for a pair of progressive glasses plus a pair sun glasses ( very nice frames ) set me back 1100 bucks. I should have just had the regular lens, saved the 1500 and that would have more than paid for my new glasses. So maybe if you have worn glasses all your life, at this stage of the game who cares . So before you get the surgery do way way way more research. I don’t even think I will have my left eye done having had this experience and if I do I will not get a Toric lens .
